Case Study: The Shaded House

House colors are sometimes determined by factors like light and shade.  Take this deep, rambling house on a corner lot.  It has an extensive yard with two huge shade trees.

The owners original toyed with painting it navy blue.  Because this house has a prominent black roof, is shaded in summer, and has two porches, we decided a lighter, brighter color would be a better fit.

Therefore, we choose a complex blue-green which holds it's own under the black roof, shows up in  the shade, and plays beautifully with the new door.  The creamy white trim contributes to the house's visibility.
